Filter & Softener Systems

Assembled media filters and water softeners built on fibreglass pressure vessels of 8" x 44", 10" x 54", 13" x 54" and 14" x 65". Media filters are supplied with AFM glass media, DMI-65, granular activated carbon (GAC), calcite or UltraClear beds, each with a manual or an automatic control valve; calcite filters come with manual valves. Softeners are supplied with automatic control valves. Brine tanks of 80 L, 100 L, 200 L and 350 L are listed separately, either bare or with a brine valve fitted, together with replacement brine valves for each tank size. Each system is specified by vessel size, media and valve type; confirm the valve model and media quantity with DWT when ordering.

How to choose

Start from the water analysis. AFM suits suspended solids and turbidity, GAC suits chlorine, taste and odour, DMI-65 suits iron and manganese, calcite raises the pH of acidic water, and a softener removes hardness. Then size the vessel on flow: the FlowShell datasheets give service-flow guidance of 0.2-0.5 m³/h for 8" x 44", 0.6-1.5 m³/h for 10" x 54", 2.3-2.7 m³/h for 13" x 54" and 2.5-3.0 m³/h for 14" x 65". Automatic valves backwash or regenerate without an operator; manual valves suit sites where someone will backwash on a fixed routine. A softener also needs a brine tank large enough for the salt storage between refills.
